A fascinating documentary which unfolds in the heart of Yu-Shan National Park and its beautiful mountain ranges.

This fascinating documentary unfolds in the heart of Yu-Shan National Park, also known as ‘the realm of bears’. Filmmaker Hsiang-Hsiu Lee follows Mei-Hsiu Hwang, head of the Institute of Wildlife Conservation and affectionately nicknamed ‘Mother Black Bear’, and Yuan-Yuan Lin, an indigenous Bunun mountain ranger. The two develop a deep companionship whilst gathering research data on black bears. Discover the secret of the Formosan black bear in this beautiful documentary set amidst the mountain ranges of Dafen, Taiwan. “The film was an accumulation of sweat and tears as well as a ruthless ordeal,” says director Lee. The result is a poetic film exploring the beautiful connection between nature and humanity.
