A stylish and poetic documentary directed by Chu Tien-Wen, who has worked on many screenplays such as Growing Up (1983) and Millennium Mambo (2001) with Taiwanese auteur Hou Hsiao-Hsien, who is also the producer of this work. 

 

Growing up with both parents as esteemed writers, the three sisters discover their parent’s old diary, letters and photographs. They travel through time to uncover their parent’s journey of becoming writers, the secret love stories, and the backstories of 1960s Taiwan, one of which being the 823 Artillery Battle. 

 

由知名小說家朱天文主導，透過三姐妹敘述，分享父母早期留下的日記、照片與情書。朱天文曾與導演侯秀賢合作，為其多部作品編劇，包括《小畢的故事》與《千禧曼波》。

 

閱讀父親朱西甯的作品與日記，像穿越時光隧道回到1960年代的台灣，開啟舊社會、戰爭與文化的時光寶盒。母親劉慕沙當時寫下的情書，反映他前衛的思路，更表現出早期女性主義者的理想和社會實踐。雷光夏的細緻音符與攝影大師姚宏易的光影，為電影鍍上一面詩意，朱家的時代疊影交錯其上。
