A sprawling wuxia fantasy that fuses martial arts with urban legend, Kung Fu marks the joyously unrestrained return to fantasy cinema for hitmaking director Giddens KO (Miss Shampoo, 2023). Featuring a powerhouse ensemble cast—including DAI Lih-ren, Kai KO, Gingle WANG, Berant CHU, and LIU Kuan-ting—the film brilliantly reimagines traditional heroism for a new generation.
Yuan is an ordinary high schooler whose life changes forever when he encounters an eccentric homeless man claiming to be a 500-year-old kung fu master. Tired of being the butt of every joke at school, Yuan and his friends reluctantly accept the stranger's discipleship. Before long, they are swept into a centuries-old blood feud between ancient rivals, forcing the teenagers to navigate the trials of love, schoolyard dynamics, and modern friendship amidst a modern-day martial arts underworld lurking in the shadows of modern Taiwan.
Adapted from the director’s own iconic novel, the film seamlessly blurs the line between everyday reality and high-stakes delusion. Kung Fu pays vibrant homage to classic wuxia literature while injecting it with a hyper-stylized, modern pop sensibility, perfectly recalling the manic energy and martial arts madness of Stephen Chow classics like Kung Fu Hustle.
改編自其經典小說系列《都市恐怖病》中最受歡迎同名篇章的《功夫》，是九把刀繼《那些年，我們一起追的女孩 》與《月老》後再度親自執導的奇幻大作。作為九把刀創作宇宙的重要代表作，本片集結戴立忍、柯震東、王淨、朱軒洋與劉冠廷等頂級卡司，首次大規模挑戰武俠奇幻題材。九把刀延續其擅長的青春成長風格，並融合都市傳說與熱血冒險，將華語武俠精神與現代年輕世代的生命經驗完美結合。
故事講述平凡高中生淵仔與好友阿義，意外結識了一名自稱沉睡五百年、身懷絕世武功的神祕流浪漢黃駿。隨著兩人懷疑轉為相信，並與暗戀對象乙晶一同加入習武行列，三名少男少女被捲入一場跨越五百年的江湖恩怨中，被迫在都市與古老武林交錯的世界裡，面對友情、愛情與成長的考驗。
本片完美遊走在日常現實與高亢妄想之間的敘事邊界，既向經典武俠文學致敬，又注入了極具風格化的現代流行感。九把刀成功翻轉了古老的江湖大義，將「俠」詮釋為少年在殘酷現實中選擇相信理想的叛逆勇氣，無疑是當代台灣類型電影中最具顛覆性的奇想傑作。
