Taiwanese Chamber Ensemble "Cicada" coming to Sydney and Melbourne for the first time this September

Established in 2009, Cicada's sound can be likened to RADWIMPS, albeit without vocals, electric guitar, and drums, or reminiscent of Joe Hisaishi's DEPARTURES (2008). The ensemble comprises violin, cello, piano, and acoustic guitar, weaving simplistic and clean melodies together with ambient strings to elevate your musical experience to new heights. Catch them in two exclusive shows on 21st September at Howler Theatre, Melbourne, and 22nd September at Metro Theatre, Sydney.

A Global Journey

Having shared the stage with Icelandic maestro Ólafur Arnalds in 2010, Cicada's soothing melodies have earned them global recognition. They've performed and toured extensively in countries such as Japan and China, gracing the stages of renowned music festivals. With a discography boasting more than 12 albums over the last decade, their 10th masterpiece, "Hiking in the Mist" (2019), even received a nomination for Best Album Producer - Instrumental at the prestigious 31st Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan.

The band's creative prowess extends beyond music composition. They've composed soundtracks for films, including director Chen Hung-I's THE LAST PAINTING in 2017 and Japanese director Kei Ishikawa's A MAN in 2022 and was the first Taiwanese band to be nominated for Best Film Music at the 46th Japan Academy Film Prize.

A Musical Odyssey Through Nature

Cicada's compositions are firmly rooted in the essence of nature, where they skillfully transform the sounds of the natural landscape into captivating musical notes. From the playful flute tunes that echo the birdsong to the graceful string melodies mirroring the tranquil rush of a waterfall down the riverbed, their music captures the very heart of the natural world.

Experience the breathtaking vistas of the landscape, promising an unparalleled and extraordinary musical journey. Don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in their soul-stirring melodies that transcend the boundaries of sound, spirit, and nature.
