Mickey Chen is an iconic queer filmmaker and activist from Taiwan. He has been making documentaries since the late 90s including the queer trilogy: BOYS FOR BEAUTY (1999), MEMORANDUM ON HAPPINESS  (2003), and SCARS ON MEMORY (2005). Chen’s autobiography of the same title won multiple literary awards in Taiwan and was adapted into a stage play in 2012.

Over the years, Chen has been filming his family to make a documentary based on his autobiography from childhood to coming out as gay and his relationship with his family. Sadly, Chen passed away from cardiogenic shock in 2018, leaving this ambitious work uncompleted. It was finally gathered by his long-time friend director Yang Li-Chou to create this emotional memorial piece which allows the audiences to enjoy Chen’s artistic creations one final time.
